It's In the Little Things...

Personal expression...
it's in the little things.

In the oft-indulgent world of weddings (big tents, 300 guests, lobster or filet?) many brides learn in hindsight that the smallest details are what make their days stand out from the rest.

Personal touches are truly what make guest and family love - and remember! These small tinges of taste are how a couple shares their unique personal expression of who they are with their guests.

Whether it's in their favors, the shoes they don, the gifts they give, the rings they wear or the flowers they choose, the tiniest details end up expressing the most about a bride and groom.

Consultants, Coordinators, Cohorts... Blissful Planners play multiple roles so you can concentrate on one that of happy BRIDE

Shoes, Shoes and More Shoes....

If you are anything like me... you absolutely love a great pair of shoes, and I know we have covered this before, but sharing is caring right? especially to help you create a fabulous day amid the happy journey of wedded bliss...you have to have exquisite shoes! Inspired by the sassy pair of Xtina pumps by Nina below, here are some of my favorite bridal heels!

For the more traditional brides-to-be, check out the white and ivory pairs in the photo below...

- From Nina: Elke LS and Quenna
- Badgley Mischka Caroline White Wedding Shoes via MyGlassSlipper.com
- Giuseppe Zanotti E224 Ivory Wedding Shoes
- Badgley Mischka Carlo White Wedding Shoes

Or, if you're feeling frisky, add a splash of color (*non-traditional colored heels make for some adorable wedding photos, as the vibrant hue peeks out the bottom of your beautiful white or ivory wedding dress)...

- From Nina: Electra and Critia
- From Stuart Weitzman: Jumbo and Jardin

If you don't want to spend a bundle on your bridal heels, Nina is a fantastic option. All of the Nina pairs featured here are under $100! And for tons of fab heels, from different designers at all different price points, MyGlassSlipper.com is an amazing resource!

Which pumps, peep toes or strappy styles are your absolute favorite?

The Groom's Guide: Keeping Your Bride Happy

“I’ll let her make all the decisions. She’s the one that cares about that stuff.”
This statement only works if your Bride(zilla) is demanding total control over every detail of the wedding, or, if your future mother-in-law is planning her dream wedding for you. If you’re in a normal relationship, your bride probably wants and needs your help in the planning of this special day (or at least help persuading her mom that you don’t want to be married in the backyard).

From my experience, any participation on your part helps to relieve some of the stress she may be feeling, and we all know what happens when a bride is stressed. Taking an active roll in some of the planning is an easy way to show you’re interested in contributing, and it also keeps you from wearing a fuchsia cumber bun that matches the bridesmaid’s dresses (FYI: fuchsia = pinkish purple). Through first-hand experience, I have mastered a few simple techniques that keep you from missing the big game to shop for centerpieces, and will help you stay in good graces with your bride. To get yourself up to speed, check back for other Groom’s Guide posts. After all, a happy wife equals a happy life.

Venue, Venue, Venue

After you get engaged you need to set aside time to focus on what you want your wedding to look like.
Choosing a venue is one of the biggest and most important decisions in this process and it is important to do your homework. Before you can decide and start looking at venues there are certain questions you need to ask yourself.

  • Do you want an outside or inside wedding?
  • If outside, do you want it in a garden, near the ocean or a lake, etc?
  • If inside, do you want a church wedding?
  • How many guests do you want at the ceremony?
  • Do you want the reception and ceremony at the same location?
  • Is your wedding style classic and traditional, whimsical, or uber modern?
  • How much decoration do you want?
  • Do you want a morning, afternoon, or night wedding?
  • How much of your budget are you willing to use for the venue?

In love...with Melissa Sweet

In looking at wedding dresses each season I always fall in love with Melissa Sweet wedding dresses. Such whimsy...

All of the dresses have an innocent sophistication about them. I swoon.....

Plus,I love the idea of changing your dress for the reception and putting on a short cocktail length number. I envy those girls who are daring enough to wear a cocktail length dress for the entire wedding. That would be great for an intimate wedding in a garden where you and your new hubby can walk around in the garden for pictures, dare I say it... barefoot.
It will be another excuse to relax and get a pedicure before your big day.
